Family Carers

Caring for a person living with dementia is tough emotionally, physically and cognitively. Emotionally because you are experiencing anticipatory grief and watching a person change, physically because you work load will increase both in practical chores and personal care, and you will be required to make sense of things that just don't make sense and think ahead and plan. With carers of people living with dementia being at a higher risk of depression, stress, anxiety and burnout than any other care group you need support.

Such a grim picture is painted for carers when you get a diagnosis which is (so far) not been my experience so it was good to see the humour and positivity in the group."
